Local Information
Just to the north of Gloucester along the west bank of the River Severn, you can find the quiet and quaint village of Maisemore. Very little has changed over the last 25 years in the village of Maisemore, it still remains a quiet place to visit and spend the weekend away from the hustle and bustle of modern day life. The village’s main features are the church and newly built Village Hall.
Perhaps the most pleasant attraction to Maisemore is the Maisemore Walk, which is a gentle 4 mile walk circum-navigating the countryside which surrounds the village of Maisemore. Nothing is more relaxing than a stroll through the English Countryside and there is no place better to do it at than in Maisemore.
Furthermore, the local village of Hartpury can be found only two miles to the north of Maisemore and makes an excellent choice to walk to from Maisemore. You can even find ample locations between Maisemore and Hartpury to stop along side the River Severn and have a lazy Sunday afternoon picnic with riparian accents.
If you also choose to, you can head in an easterly direction from the village of Maisemore and within only a mile, you will come to the village of Highnam.
The village of Maisemore also offers an opportunity of a lifetime to witness the Severn Bore. Throughout the world, there are only 60 rivers capable of creating tidal waves, as the conditions of the riverbed have to be just right. The River Severn is one of them and this bore can be seen with ease in Maisemore. It is also considered to be the second largest river bore phenomenon in the world.
