Question: Why is a password important?
Answer: A password protection on your web site statistic is important if you do not want to share that data with your website’s users. While you may still have the counter on your webpage or even the link to your website’s statistical data, with a password you can prevent people from seeing the data as well as prevent people from freely resetting your counters through your user control panel. Furthermore, when you choose to add a password you will also avail the higher functions of the account which includes the ability to reset your counters.
Question: What happens if I forget my password?
Answer: If you choose to add a password to your account and later forget it, as of right now the ability to recover it is not available. We apologise for the inconvenience that this may cause, but in order to continue to offer these services as we are, we cannot add a “Forget your password” system currently. This may be available in the future but for now it is important that you remember the password you choose when you set up the account.
Question: Can I add or change my password later?
Answer: If you have chosen a password and possibly have given it out or someone else has somehow gained access to your account, you will not be able to change the password later. Since we do not collect personal data of those sorts, you will not have to worry about someone else having access to your account other than their ability to reset counters. If you do feel that you need a new password then you will have to open a new account.
Summary:
When you first setup your account for website tracking, you will be given the option to add a password to your account. This password is not a necessary requirement and you can leave it blank but you also will not be able to add or change your password later. We do hope that in the future we may be able to offer this ability to you but presently it is not possible.
As of right now there is also no way of recovering your password in the event that you forget it or even reset it if you have given out the password to someone else. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause but in a manner to maintain the current services these options are currently not available. This does not mean that they will not be available in the future as we hope to add this soon but as of right now this is not a possibility.
Also make sure that when choosing a password that you select one that is easy for you to remember but not easy for others to figure out. If the tracker account is for “Joe’s Blog” do not choose Joe or Blog in the password and also try to make sure that your password is composed of both numbers as well as letters as this makes access a lot harder. In the event that someone does gain access to your account and resets your counters, there is no way to remedy this as of yet so please make sure that when choosing to add a password to your account that you do not share the password with others.
